Dear Friends, The Howard Family, of Buckeye, have always opened their hearts to anyone who was in need of help. At their own Fly-ins they gave aircraft to be raffled, for a pilots medical expense. And now it’s our turn to return the favor. Kenneth (Butch) Howard for almost a year has been battling Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Stage IV. In July, 2009 he had surgery to remove a brain tumor. Then in January, 2010 he had another brain tumor removed. Needless to say, with two small children, no insurance, medical bills, house payments, plus all their other expenses, and not being able to take a steady job for at least five more months there is a real need. Right now health wise he is doing really well. The cancer is in remission and Deanna said he looks good. Deanna is working a part time job, but cannot take a full time position while she needs to run with Butch. Their church has been some help, but much more is needed. Hop and I spoke with Deanna last Monday and only someone who has gone through what they are going through, can really understand how they feel. They didn’t want to ask for help, but it is needed badly. Hop and I having been close to the factory have witnessed the unknown ways they have given to others. They have given to so many pilots and community members in need.. At our Benefit Fly-ins they and their vendors have given aircraft to be raffled to help raise money for a family who had taken in a little girl who had lost her mom, dad, and sister in an truck accident; to a family who had taken in the husbands sibling’s, and needed to make their own home more livable. When we had a benefit for a fellow pilot with cancer , they gave items to be raffled and money. For another benefit, a teen who was in remission from cancer and the family needed to make trips to the Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis the Howard’s did the same. From experience Hop and I know it can cost at least $2,000.00 and up to put on a Benefit Fly-In. We were lucky to have pilots that pitched in with the expenses. That helped keep our cost down. So let’s have a
